We are a running club situated in the heart of Hillcrest, KwaZulu Natal. We have a good social vibe at our club and hold regular training runs as well as a time trial every Thursday with a biannual competition.
Founded in 1977, Hillcrest Villagers is one of the great South African running clubs. The legendary Graeme Fraser was one of their founding members and, under his leadership and leg speed, Hillcrest became the eminent Comrades club in Natal. During the Comrades glory days of the 1980s, Villagers extended their fame countrywide by dominating the prestigious Gunga Din trophy (the men’s team prize which is awarded to the fastest four runners from the same club). Being on the Comrades route shortly after half way and a real beating heart of the community, you can just feel its presence on race day.
